Memorials Policies and Contract  |   The Setup (scroll down furthur for the adoption contract) These are the adoption policies of the FlyingDuster Rattery, and apply to all rats adopted from us. Ð We will never adopt out single rats to anyone who does not already have another rat of the same sex. Even in that case, I prefer rats go out in same-sex pairs or more. Ð We will not adopt a rat to anyone who keeps rat of both sexes unless we are satisfied that the nescessary precautions will be taken to ensure that litters will not occur. Ð We will only adopt rats to homes who exhibit prior knowledge of the proper care of rats, and who have the support and involvement of the entire family. This does not mean we will exclude anyone who is new to rats, in fact, we are always glad when someone new discovers what great pets rats can be. However, research should be done before hand, and if you have any questions, by all means, ask! I will do my best to provide you with accurate and helpful information throughout the life of your rat, and try to keep a close rapport with each and all of my adopters. Ð Breeding rats are sold to established breeders that follow practices that I personally agree with. Very very few rats will ever be sold as breeding rats, and those that aren't, are prohibited from being bred under any circumstances. Ð Kittens will be weaned around 5 weeks of age, and ready to go to their adoptive homes at 6 weeks of age. No kitten will be adopted out before it is 6 weeks of age. Ð All adoptions require a signed adoption agreement at the time of adoption. (Please see below.) Ð We are to be contacted first and foremost if the adopting owner decides to rehome the rat for any reason. We reserve the right take back any of the rats we adopt out in preferance to it going to an unknown home. Ð If you have reserved a rat, and upon coming to take him/her home decide that he/she is not what you would like, you are not obligated to take the rat home. We understand the bond when you find the "right" rat, and by no means do we expect you to leave with a rat you don't feel any connection to. Ð We prefer that you come here and meet your new babies, as well as meeting us and the rest of our rats and seeing our set up. Ð If adopted rats develop any symptoms of illness or infection, I am to be notified immediately, for my own records, as I try not to continue working with a line that passes on genetic illnesses or weaknesses. Ð Generally, I adopt out my rats on a first come, first serve basis. If you are on my waiting list, you will be contacted to reserve your rat in the order your name was added. It is your responsibility to notify me of your continued (or discontinued) interest, and if you no longer desire a rat from me, please let me know so that other people will have the chance to adopt. Ð I reserve the right to refuse a rat to anyone at any time. I try to be fair, and generally I will not refuse a potential adoptee without good cause. Adoption Contract This contract must be signed for every adoption of a FlyingDuster rat. If you are under the age of 18 and not living by your own means, your parent or guardian must view the policies and sign the contract on your behalf.
These policies and contract were based on those of the Ratsicles Rattery and a big thanks to them for it!
